Terms of use

1. What we provide

Bitcoin & Satoshi provides software to generate and back up bitcoin keys on your device and to sign transactions locally.

We do not provide custody, an exchange, a balance held with us, or a payment institution.

2. Not a financial service

The app is not a credit institution, crypto custodian, payment service provider, or investment advice.

Information on this website is general and non-binding. Bitcoin prices can move sharply, including to zero.

3. Your responsibility

You are solely responsible for the device, seed phrase, PIN, receive addresses, and checking transaction details before signing.

Loss, theft, phishing, malware, or sharing the phrase can cause irreversible loss of bitcoin. We do not reimburse coins.

4. Third-party services

On-ramp, off-ramp, price, or network services (including MoonPay, Ramp Network, and bitcoin nodes/explorers) are separate contracts between you and that party.

Fees, declines, limits, chargebacks, and identification sit with that provider. Their terms apply in addition.

5. Acceptable use

You may use the software only in accordance with applicable law. Abusive, fraudulent, or sanctions-violating use is prohibited.

You represent that you control any receive address you submit.

6. Availability and changes

Software and website may contain errors, change, or be temporarily unavailable. Network fees and confirmation times are outside our control.

We may update these terms going forward. The current version is published at /terms.

7. Liability

The software is provided “as is”. To the extent permitted by law we are not liable for indirect damages, lost profits, or lost digital assets.

Mandatory liability (intent, gross negligence, injury to life/body/health, product liability) remains unaffected.

8. Law

The laws of the Federal Republic of Germany apply. Mandatory consumer protections of your country of residence remain unaffected.

Place of jurisdiction for merchants is Berlin, where permitted.

9. Who may send, receive, and buy

Send and receive may be used at any age, including by minors. The software does not ask us to identify you for that. Where the law requires a parent or guardian to supervise a minor’s property, or to consent before the minor disposes of it, that duty is theirs. We do not take it on, because we never hold the coins.

Buy and sell with fiat are not our service. They are closed unless you have reached the age of majority in your country of residence (or a higher age if that country or the partner requires it), the partner accepts you, and the partner is allowed to serve your country. A parent may not pass a minor through the partner’s identity check.

We do not direct the product at children. We do not knowingly collect children’s personal data.

10. Sanctions and local law

You must not use the software if you are a sanctioned person, or if you are located in a territory subject to comprehensive sanctions of the European Union, the United Nations, the United Kingdom, or the United States.

You are responsible for whether self-custody software and bitcoin transactions are lawful where you live. If a country requires a licence even to publish non-custodial wallet software, do not use the app there.

11. Licences we do not hold

We are a software publisher in Berlin. We do not custody crypto-assets, exchange them, or transmit fiat or bitcoin on your behalf. The wallet is therefore not offered as a crypto-asset custody service under Regulation (EU) 2023/1114 (MiCA), not as crypto custody under German law, and not as money transmission under the U.S. FinCEN 2019 guidance on convertible virtual currency. That description is not a licence and not legal advice to you.

Fiat on-ramps and off-ramps operate only under the partner’s own authorisation. Their licence map — not a licence of ours — decides where Buy is available. We do not claim to be licensed in every country. Nobody in this position is.

12. United Kingdom

Descriptions of buying on this website explain a technical handoff to an independent partner. They are not an invitation by us to invest. If a financial promotion of qualifying cryptoassets is made to you, it is made by that partner under its own permissions, together with the risk summary the partner must show. You can lose all the money you pay a partner.

13. United States and elsewhere

We do not take possession of bitcoin or fiat and we do not accept and transmit value. State money-transmitter and virtual-currency laws differ, including in New York. Buy is offered only where the partner may serve you. Nothing here is an offer of securities or investment advice.

Limits on our liability do not apply where the mandatory law of your residence forbids them. They never exclude liability for intent, gross negligence, injury to life, body, or health, or liability under product-liability rules.
