Who can use it

Bitcoin & Satoshi is self-custody software from Berlin. Sending and receiving do not need an account with us. Buying with fiat is a separate service, from a licensed partner, and only for adults.

This page is our product rule and our compliance posture. It is not a law firm’s opinion, and it does not make the software lawful in every country. If the law where you live forbids it, do not use it.

Send and receive — any age

The wallet creates keys on your device and lets you sign bitcoin transactions. We never see the keys. We do not open an account for you, and we do not ask for a name or an ID to hold, send, or receive.

That function is not locked at 18. A minor can use it. Where local law says a parent or guardian must supervise a minor’s property — or consent before the minor gives assets away — that duty stays in the family. We cannot supervise it, because we never hold the coins.

We do not market the wallet to children. We do not profile anyone. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. The age check on this page runs in your browser and is not sent to us.

Buy and sell — age of majority only

We do not sell bitcoin. If the app offers a card, bank, or other fiat method, that is a contract between you and a partner such as MoonPay. Their licence, fees, limits, and identity checks apply.

Buy and sell stay closed unless you have reached the age of majority in the country where you live. In most countries that is 18. It is 19 in South Korea and in parts of the United States and Canada, 20 in Thailand, and 21 in places such as Singapore, the UAE, Mississippi, and Puerto Rico. If your country is not in the checker, we use 21.

The partner can require a higher age. A parent cannot put a minor through the partner’s identity check. After the bitcoin is on-chain in your wallet, only you can move it.

Sanctions

Do not use the software if you are a sanctioned person, or if you are in a territory under comprehensive sanctions of the European Union, the United Nations, the United Kingdom, or the United States (including Cuba, Iran, North Korea, and Syria). Partners block payments in many more places. Their map, not ours, decides where Buy works.

What we are — and what a global licence is not

We publish software. We do not custody crypto-assets, we do not run an exchange, and we do not accept or transmit fiat or bitcoin for you. On that basis the wallet is not offered as custody under Regulation (EU) 2023/1114 (MiCA), not as crypto custody under German banking law, and not as money transmission under the U.S. FinCEN 2019 convertible-virtual-currency guidance. Those are structural facts about a non-custodial wallet. They are not a licence, and they are not advice to you.

Some countries still regulate the mere publication of wallet software, or treat a UK-facing description of buying as a financial promotion. We do not claim a licence there. If that law applies to you, do not use the app. In the United Kingdom, any invitation to buy is the partner’s, under the partner’s permissions — not ours.

In the United States, state law differs, including New York. We do not take possession of bitcoin or dollars. Nothing on this site is an offer of securities or investment advice. Buy exists only where the partner may serve you.

No publisher of non-custodial software is “licensed in every country.” Coverage for fiat is exactly the partner’s licence footprint. Coverage for send and receive is the Bitcoin network, plus your duty to follow the law where you live.

Indicative ages of contractual majority, checked in the browser, not a legal opinion. A higher local age always wins. Scotland can treat some contracts as valid from 16; partners still require adulthood, so Buy stays at 18 there.
